If you want to make a trip to the KwaZulu-Natal province then head out to Pongola Game Reserve. The reserve was declared the Pongola Game Reserve by Paul Kruger in 1984. The reserve is 450km from Johannesburg and 350km from Durban.
The Pongola River offers broad meanders through the center of the reserve before entering the lake. It provides a unique South African bushveld destination. The area is home to varies plains game species, four of the Big Five (excluding lion), Hippopotamus and crocodile. It is also a birding “hotspot”. Over 350 species have been recorded here. Enjoy the experience of tracking rhino on foot.
