Experience a boat cruise at one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa, The Okavango Delta, and discover one of the world’s premier wilderness areas. In North-Western Botswana, you will find Shakawe Village, where The Kubu Queen Houseboat is moored.
You can experience close encounters with nature while cruising the upper reaches of the Okavango Delta and during the night the bush around you comes alive.
The cruise is private, exclusive, and remote. The boat can accommodate up to 6 people in three separate rooms, you can also arrange for pre-set-up tents on the deck for additional sleeping space. There are two double cabins, and the third is an open-air bedroom on the upper deck with two single beds. The bathroom has a spacious shower with toilet facilities. Spend your time relaxing in the lounge or at the bar while all your meals are catered for on your cruise.
The Trans-Okavango river safari is a 7-day journey. It begins at Shakawe, in Northern Botswana, through the Okavango River and the Delta in Maun. The water wilderness of the Okavango Delta is best experienced by boat, and it is recommended to visit them between June and August. There are spectacular scenery and wildlife to see and try your hand at fishing while on the boat.
Travel an hour from Shakawe to Tsodilo Hill for an unforgettable day trip. There are three trail routes to choose from where you get to see over 3500 well-preserved ancient artwork (rock art) in the area. At the end of the trail, a picnic lunch is a perfect way to end your day.
The Okavango is known for the variety of fish species making fly-fishing and rod-and-reel fishing one of the things to try out while on the cruise. Just imagine if your catch of the day is a Tigerfish or a very large catfish!! Shoaling is also very popular at the backwaters and lagoons of the Okavango.
Seek out some unique bird species while cruising on the waters through various habitats. During your time moored at different islands, see if you can spot some of the nocturnal bird species.
