Klipkuile Bush Camp is set on the edge of the valley, with a natural rock pool in the river right below! Opposite the valley, the famous Klipkuile Castle can be seen. Get in your vehicle, and take a short 2 hours drive (from surrounding Johannesburg and Pretoria areas) to Klipkuile for a weekend bushveld getaway.
Klipkuile Bush Camp is ideal for a family getaway, team-building events, or for just a group of friends. The Accommodation comprises of one camp perfectly suited for 5 to15 people, and you will have exclusive use of the campsite. There is a large open-air lapa with an open-plan kitchen and lounge. The lounge also serves as a sleeping area for 10 people. The two stone chalets have their own en-suite bathrooms. These are the only bathroom facilities at the camp.
Luxuries such as good coffee and fantastic steaks can be achieved in the good old-fashioned way, without electricity, over an open fire! I recommend this being a team effort, especially at night time when you will need gas or paraffin lamps to see what you are doing.
As I mentioned, the famous Klipkuile Castle can be seen from the camp. To this day the construction has not been completed and it looks like the structure is ”growing” out of the rock. The construction has been ongoing for such a long time and now looks more like the ruins of an ancient castle than anything else.
Getting back to the experience at Klipkuile Bush Camp – Your days will be based around clear water pools where you can enjoy swimming, tubing, reclining and picnicking. The camp is situated in 600 hectare of pristine Waterberg Bushveld, which makes for a great adventure. There are hiking, mountain biking, and driving trails and 5km of river to explore and you may be lucky enough to see some Kudu, Ribbok, Bushbuck, and Warthog. If you have a pair of binoculars, bring them along as the birdlife is abundant!
